Students Read in Honor of Fellow Student

The campus of North Shore Middle School was saddened to lose one of its most active students. James Brown was seen as a star reader, band member, football player and a very intelligent person. In addition to naming a tree in Brown’s honor, and setting up a trust fund, NSMS designated September 29, 2006 as AR Reading Day for James Brown.  Students read for the entire day. Brown had the second most AR reading points on campus.

The librarian Ms. Sivil had many students in and out of the library that day. “I had difficulties with kids going in out of the library that day,” said Sivil,  “I think students learned a lot with there comprehension because if they read the book and passed the AR test they comprehended very well.”  Students accumulated 6,449 AR points for the week, and 763 AR points for the James Brown Reading Day.
