NSMS Makes a First Impression
By Erin Hill and Marisa Ramos
We wanted to know what students thought of North Shore Middle School. We asked students the questions: Who is your favorite teacher? What do you think of the new 7th and 8th graders? What was your first impression of the school and what do you think is the meaning the Mustang Way?
Who is your favorite teacher? “My favorite teacher is Coach Atkins, he’s funny and cool,” replied 7th grader Karina Velazquez. Eighth grader Elvia Ramos says “My favorite teacher is Ms. Sullen, she’s really funny.” “Coach Atkins because he is tight,” said Marquies Scoot. We asked Tyler Pushia the same question and he said “Mrs. Parrot cause she’s nice”.
What do you think of the new 7th and 8th graders? Alex Perez says, “They rock.” Abili said, “They are okay because I have a sister in 7th grade.”
What was your first impression of the school and how is this school is different from your other school last year? Kaynesha Breedlove said “It is way bigger here then at Cobb, plus the food is better.” Vianey Aguirrey says “It’s bigger and the teachers are a lot more serious here too.” We asked a new 8th grader how does it feel to be a new 8th grader here at NSMS, she said it is kind of weird and exciting since her other school had a fight every day, but NSMS has more rules. Trey Calvert said his first day was hard because he got lost probably once or twice. Seventh grader Lauren Koutlias said her first impression was “Wow, there are lots of stairs.” Seventh grader Guadalupe Romo said her first impression was “Wow it’s so big” When asked what they would change about the school almost all students interviewed said something they did not like were the uniforms.
What do you think The Mustang Way means? “I think The Mustang Way means that you should follow directions,” said 7th grader Melissa Hernandez. Eighth grader Whitney Abili said “I think The Mustang Way means to show pride and do your best.” Tierria Oliver said the Mustang Way means “to have confidence.”
Overall, students had a good first impression thanks to the staff and other students at NSMS.
