NSMS Hosts Special Olympics Training
By J. Wright
On Friday, August 24, 2007 the NSMS Life Skills class hosted a Special Olympic training for the Motor Activity Training Program (MATP). The MATP allows special education students to train for competions in Special Olympic activities during the regular PE or recreation period. All teachers and paraprofessionals in attendance completed training and a 10 hours coaching practicum to become certified MATP coaches. Coaches will work with their special education students this year in developing completive events. NSMS will host a fall and spring relay for MATP participants in the region.
