New “Soldiers” added to NSMS faculty
By J. Wright
The multipurpose room and school leadership was decorated in camouflage for the first NSMS New Teacher Boot Camp. New Teachers were welcomed to North Shore by Principal Drexler and Assistant Principals Cotton, Pickens, Griffith and new AP Ms. Sandra Rios and new Math Specialist Ms. Angie Williams. After pledges and a briefing by staff, new teachers were transported to their next training site: the bowling ally.
The 26 new teachers are from a variety of educational backgrounds from biology to clothing and textiles. Such diversity in talents and education is one of the unique aspects of North Shore Middle School. “NSMS has a great reputation. I’ve heard positive things about the school and its community,” said new teacher Takara Badrock. “I was impressed with how excited everyone seems to be about their jobs and how proud they are to be a part of the North Shore Team,” exclaimed new math teacher Elizabeth Harris. Karen Burwell explained, “I get the impression that staff is treated very well because much is expected from them.” The leadership staff is certain that the new teachers will find their own unique way to impact their students. “I look forward to motivating young students to appreciate art. In addition, I will challenge students to do their 100% best and teach each child that they can do anything they set their mind to. When they enter my room, they will enter my creative world,” said Arts and Crafts teacher Stephanie Martinez. NSMS New teachers are:
