Remembering James Brown

A student at North Shore Middle School recently passed away. James Brown died on September 27, 2006. “James was a good and kind person,” said Coach Jason Ward. The students and teachers at North Shore Middle School were shocked. Coach Ward said “I was very sad when I heard that James died.” The cause of James’ death was an abnormal heart. To honor James, NSMS will be completing certain projects. “The football players will be putting James’ number on all their helmets. We will also be naming a nature trail after him,” Coach Ward explained. On the wall walking into the gym is a long poster where students can sign their name to remember him. School was dismissed at 10:45am on Wednesday October 4 so that students and teachers could attend James’ funeral. On September 29 the students at NSMS read their AR book the entire day in honor of James, the avid reader. The life skills classes at NSMS held a baked potato fundraiser to raise money for the Brown family. The potato sale raised over $1100 and had orders from surrounding schools such as Cunningham Middle, Havard Elementary, and North Shore High School.

James was a pretty good football player, but that wasn’t one of the reasons that made him so popular. James was known for being nice, caring, smart, a good listener and for always having a book with him. James will be truly missed at NSMS, and he will never be forgotten.
