School Visitation
You are welcome to visit your school
during the instructional day. Galena Park ISD and school policy require that all visitors report to the office and sign in
prior to any visit in the school. If you wish to visit your childs classroom, you
need to make such arrangements with the classroom teacher prior to your visit.
Parent/teacher conferences are held
before and after school so as not to interrupt valuable instructional time. Please make
your appointment directly with the teacher. In addition, it is not permitted to confer
with a teacher after the 7:45 a.m. bell, since this is the beginning of the students
instructional day.

Student Attendance
At Cimarron Elementary School it is our
firm belief that good attendance promotes high student achievement. Therefore, we will
strictly enforce all state guidelines regarding student attendance, which allows students
no more than five (5) absences per semester. Any absences in excess of this amount will
cause your child to be retained.
Students are excused when absent due to
personal illness, sickness or death in the immediate family, quarantine, weather or road
conditions making travel dangerous, and participation in school activities with unusual
circumstances as recognized by the principal. Students who have been absent must present a
written excuse from their parent or guardian upon their return to school. If a child does
not bring a written excuse the absence will be counted as unexcused. Excessive unexcused
absences may result in a student being retained at the end of the school year.
If your child is absent 3 consecutive
days or has a pattern of being absent from school an attendance officer will visit you at
home. If the absenteeism is unexcused and your child still does not attend school, you
will get a warning for possible court proceedings. Please keep in mind that it is state
law that children attend school.
