BAYOU LEGACY WALK

Eight years ago, a terrible tragedy befell the family of two of our district employees, Danny and Orphalinda Bazan. They lost their only child, Daniel Bazan Jr. in a one-car accident. To honor Daniel’s memory, the Daniel Bazan Jr. Memorial Scholarship was established and has benefited students to help them further their education.

The GPISD Education Foundation Bayou Legacy Walk is an annual fundraiser that takes place on Carpenters Bayou adjacent to the GPISD Administration Building. This year’s event took place on Friday, October 14, 2016. The Bayou Legacy Walk allows Administration Building employees and employees of other district facilities and campuses to walk in the memory of Daniel Bazan Jr. or another individual dear to their hearts. Last year’s event raised over $17,000 for deserving seniors at Galena Park High School and North Shore Senior High.
