GALENA PARK ISD NEW ADMINISTRATORS RECOGNIZED

(August 14, 2012, Houston, TX) - New principals, assistant principals and administrators were introduced during the August 13 Board of Trustees meeting.

 

Julissa Alcantar-Martinez, currently serving as Principal for Woodland Acres Middle School, was introduced as Principal for Woodland Acres Elementary School. She will remain Principal for Woodland Acres Middle School as well. Alcantar-Martinez has 14 years experience in education.

 

Jason Bollich, former Assistant Principal for North Shore Senior High School was announced as the Principal for North Shore Senior High School 9th Grade Center. Bollich has 13 years experience in education.
Kenneth Bryant, who most recently served as Safe Schools Specialist at North Shore Senior High School, was introduced as Assistant Principal for North Shore Senior High School. Bryant has 6 years experience in education.

 

Amy Cole, former principal for Cimarron Elementary, was introduced as the Principal for Tice Elementary. Cole has 18 years experience in education.

 

Dr. Joe Coleman comes to Galena Park ISD from Kansas City where he served as Principal for Northeast High School. He was introduced as the Principal for North Shore Senior High School. He has 20 years experience in education.

 

Judy Elkins, who most recently served as Assistant Principal for Galena Park Middle School, was introduced as Coordinator for Staff Development. Elkins has 28 years experience in education.

 

Sonya George, former Interim Chief Financial Officer/Director, Business and Operations Solutions at Region IV Education Center, was introduced as Executive Director for Budget and Compliance. George has 19 years experience in education.

 

Dr. Wanna Giacona was announced as Executive Director for Special Programs. This is a promotion from her former position as Senior Director for Bilingual/ESL/Title Programs. Giacona has 18 years experience in education.

 

Larry Helgesen was promoted from Director for Risk Management and Non-Exempt Services to Senior Director for Risk Management, Non-Exempt Services and Election Administration. Helgesen has 10 years of experience in education.

 

Paula Henney, who most recently served as Coordinator for Parent and Volunteer Support at North Shore Senior High School, was announced as the Coordinator for Community Relations and HRS. Henney has 11 years experience in education.

 

Judy Holbrook, former Principal at Tice Elementary, was announced as the Director for Elementary Math and Science. Holbrook has 25 years experience in education.

 

Yvonne Johnson, former Director for Business Services, was promoted to Executive Director for Business Services. Johnson has 7 years experience in education.

 

Brett Lalor returns to Galena Park ISD from Barbers Hill ISD where he served as an Assistant Principal. He was introduced as Assistant Principal, North Shore Senior High School. Mr. Lalor has 19 years experience in education.

 

Elizabeth Lalor most recently served GPISD as Senior Director for Academic Support. She was promoted to Executive Director for Educational Support. Mrs. Lalor has 21 years experience in education.

 

Jose Lopez, who most recently served as a math teacher at Sam Houston Elementary, was introduced as Assistant Principal for Williamson Elementary. Lopez has 8 years experience in education.

 

Kim Martin, former GPISD Region IV Teacher of the Year, returns to Galena Park ISD from a one-year stint in Barbers Hill ISD where she served as Academic Dean. She was announced as Assistant Principal for North Shore Senior High School. Martin has 8 years experience in education.

 

Juan Ramirez, former Special Programs Coordinator at Galena Park High School, was announced as Assistant Principal for Galena Park High School. Ramirez has 10 years experience in education.

 

Jaime Rocha, who most recently served as District Wide Elementary Bilingual Specialist, was announced as Assistant Principal, Cunningham Middle School. Rocha has 13 years experience in education.

 

Raffatt Saeed, former Social Studies Teacher at Woodland Acres Middle School, was announced as Assistant Principal for Galena Park Middle School. Saeed has 6 years experience in education.

 

Vincent Sebo, who most recently served as Athletic Director for Sheldon ISD, was announced as the District Athletic Director for Galena Park ISD. Sebo has 29 years experience in education.

 

Gloria Vasquez, former Principal for Woodland Acres Elementary School, was announced as Principal for Cimarron Elementary School. Vasquez has 13 years experience in education.
