TAX RATE ELECTION RESULTS

(Houston, TX) In the September 15, 2012 Tax Rate Election (TRE), voters in Galena Park Independent School District voted to ratify the Board's proposal to shift $0.0599 from the Interest and Sinking (I & S) tax rate to the Maintenance and Operations (M&O) tax rate. The total overall tax rate remains the same.
However, by changing the M&O tax rate, GPISD will have access to approximately $5.4 million in additional revenues.

 

The unofficial* election results are as follows:

FOR 264 88%
AGAINST 36 12%



*The election results will be official once the Board of Trustees canvasses the results at a special board meeting to be held on September 26, 2012.
