Dr. Henry’s response for back to school newspaper article

  • What do you hope to accomplish for the 2004-2005 school year?

“We have outlined goals for this school year, which focus on achievement in the classroom. This includes improving TAKS scores, increasing the number of students receiving commended performance on TAKS, decreasing the number of students being exempted from TAKS, raising SAT/ACT scores, and creating a graduate tracking system.”

  • If there are any changes for the year, what can parents and students expect?

“Parents and students won’t see a lot of changes right now. We want to continue the good programs that we’ve implemented and maintain a high quality personnel as we have always done. Being a new superintendent to Galena Park ISD, it is important to take time to evaluate before making any immediate changes.”
