Pyburn Elementary and Tice Elementary have earned a place on the Texas Business and Education Coalition (TBEC) 2007 Honor Roll. Only 6 percent of elementary schools statewide were selected for this honor.
Pyburn and Tice were recognized by the TBEC for having a high percentage of students meeting state standards on the TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills) test in all subjects for three consecutive years. The TBEC Honor Roll places an emphasis on how many students scored at the state’s highest standard – Commended – on all tests. Also taken into consideration by the TBEC were the student demographics, the number of subjects tested and the grade level of students at each school.
Schools that receive this honor are invited to the Sharing Seminars and Recognition Dinner in Austin on Oct. 22.
