Four Galena Park ISD campuses are among 574 schools in the state to earn recognition as among the Best Public Schools in Texas in a feature in the December 2006 issue of Texas Monthly magazine.
Jacinto City Elementary School, Tice Elementary School, Cobb Sixth Grade Campus and Cunningham Middle School were recognized as “high performing schools” by the National Center for Educational Accountability (NCEA) in the magazine. To create the list of the Best Public Schools in Texas the NCEA analyzed how students fared in reading, writing, math, science and social studies and also considered the demographic makeup of each student body.
“I’m not surprised at all that four of our campuses were honored by the National Center for Educational Accountability,” said Dr. Mark Henry, superintendent of schools. “We try very hard to ensure that our campus leaders and our excellent teachers have everything they need to prepare students for success. These types of honors would not be possible without the dedication and effort from our students, teachers, principals and assistant principals.”
