The Mustang Players from North Shore Senior High School took top honors in the University Interscholastic League (UIL) One-Act Play Zone A competition on March 21 at Deer Park High School – South Campus. The group, under the direction of Jennifer Hunter, Ryan Heitzman, and Michael Frieden, performed Ken Kesey’s One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest to capture first place honors. This marks the first time since 2002 that the Mustang Players have advanced out of the zone competition.
          Individual honors went to Michael Escamilla for Overall Best Actor and Kenneth Johnson, Alexandra Cadena and Victor Avila were named to the All-Star Cast. Roberto Fernandez, Jonathan Waltmon, Jamel McCray  and Lauren Becerra-Gongora were named as Honorable Mention All-Star Cast members. North Shore Senior High tech crew members Ian Loving, Melissa Rodriguez, Staten Island and Adonious Berry received the Technical Awardforset, lights and sound design.
          North Shore Senior High Theater will now compete in the District One-Act Play competition slated for Saturday, March 24 at Deer Park High School - South Campus.
