Tiffany Goebel, a recent graduate of Galena Park High School, was named a finalist in the 44th Annual Greater Houston High School Spring Sports Scholar-Athlete Award.  The awards dinner was held at the J.W. Marriott Hotel on May 23.
            Goebel was one of four finalists for the Scholar Golfer Award.  She graduated 26th in her class of 330 students during commencement exercises held Sunday, May 27 at the Toyota Center. Goebel served as president of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) and was a member of the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society. She also took advanced classes in math, science and social studies.
            Goebel will attend Sam Houston State University and major in Agricultural Science in the fall.
