Galena Park High School senior Gabriela Montiel was recently notified that she is a recipient of a Presidential Scholarship from Johnson & Wales University.
Montiel is a student in the GPHS culinary arts program under the direction of Vasso Ellen-Espinosa. Students in the program receive real-life experience by preparing food and serving customers in Le Restaurant, which is open to the public each Friday and by catering school district and community events. The Galena Park/Jacinto City Rotary Club held its Dec. 5 luncheon at Le Restaurant.
Johnson & Wales University offers students the opportunity to pursue a career education in business, hospitality, culinary arts, or technology. Johnson & Wales’ four campuses are located in Providence, Rhode Island; North Miami, Florida; Denver, Colorado; and Charlotte, North Carolina.
